The Children’s Aquarium at Fair Park is celebrating its 80th birthday this week, along with Fair Park, and its giving away presents instead of getting them! The aquarium is offering free admission through June 11. And to make sure everyone gets a chance to celebrate, the Aquarium is staying open until 7 p.m., too.
The fun-sized aquarium, built just for kids, is the only place in the Dallas-Fort Worth area where you can pet stingrays. Also in Stingray Bay is MJ, the popular 150-pound, 3.5-foot-long loggerhead sea turtle with big blue eyes who was rescued after being injured when she weighed just one pound. Other residents include zebra sharks, jellyfish, moray eels, piranha and more, in addition to a touch tank where kids can get up close and personal with sea creatures.
The free admission nights are part of Fair Park’s 80th anniversary celebration, with activities, fireworks, concerts, wine tastings and more all around the fairgrounds. For more information about the festivities, go to fairparkanniversary.com.
