On Monday, June 13th, the Grand Prairie Police Department was contacted by Verizon Theatre advising that Trump campaign staff members had requested use of their facility for an event on Thursday, June 16th. When asked about the short notice, GPPD was informed the event was originally scheduled for a Dallas site, but that location did not come to fruition. The request was vetted according to established protocol and it was determined Verizon was not a suitable location for such a large-scale event as there were two other prescheduled events within the same Entertainment District. The decision was based on the fact the Grand Prairie Police Department did not have enough officers to provide proper security for the anticipated attendees of all three events nor was seating, outside capacity or parking sufficient at the venue. The decision was made by the Trump organizers to continue their search.
