Breakin’ Hearts Ranch in Gainesville, Texas will host Barrels for the Blue on Saturday, August 6. The event is set up to raise money for Dallas police officers and their families with Texas-style rodeo fun. Enjoy barrel races, a Pee-Wee race, food (including BBQ!) and a silent auction.
All proceeds will benefit the Dallas-based Assist The Officer Foundation. The Assist The Officer Foundation provides financial assistance to officers who are facing the loss of income due to a serious injury, life-threatening illness or other catastrophic event. Immediate assistance is also available to an officer’s family in the event of the death of an active officer. Since its creation in 1999, the foundation has provided assistance to hundreds of officers and their families who were faced with any number of different life-altering situations.
April Bruneau, wife of a Law Enforcement Officer, came up with this idea after the deaths of 5 Dallas Police Officers on July 7. “I didn’t want my 5 year old daughter to think that this is how it ends.” April’s dream goal is to raise $5000 to donate to ATO.
If you’d like to participate in the races, contact Breakin Hearts Ranch 940-736-9232 or 940-745-1623. Overnight stalls are available as well as a limited number of RV hook-ups.
Donations are still being accepted, so if you or your business wish to participate or donate items to the silent auction or wish to hang a banner in the arena, please call 940-745-1623. Vendor booths are available for a donation of $100. 100% of proceeds from the barrel race and silent auction will be donated to Atodallas.org. Barrel competitor jackpot will pay back 80%.
Breakin Hearts Ranch is located at 594 County Road 131 in Gainesville, Texas, just north of DFW on I-35. The event begins at 4:30 p.m. For up-to-the minute updates, go to the Barrels for the Blue Facebook Event page.
