Christopher Riddick, as you most likely know, is a strong candidate for election to the Grand Prairie Independent School District School Board at-large place 3.
What you may not know is what makes him such a suitable candidate – which is a shame! The man is absolutely brimming with years of experience and reasons you would want him on your board – almost three decades of work towards improving the lives of others; years he wants to put to use by improving the lives of your children and your school district, as a member of the GPISD School Board.
A licensed professional counselor, Riddick has spent his entire professional career focused around the pursuit of life improvements for others. With over fifteen years in the field of education, and experience social, emotional, behavioral, and academic needs of students in the Fort Worth ISD (where he is the former Director of Intervention Services and current Director of Student Engagement and School Completion) and the Crowley ISD (where he held the position of Ombudsman) he knows his way around education and the handling of students quite well. Not to mention that as an incredibly active parent in the GPISD, a man actively involved in the children’s ministry at his church for seventeen years, and even experience coaching youth sports, Christopher Riddick is a man who is deeply entrenched in the community, and serves it to the best of his ability – especially the youth who need guidance and support more than anyone.
With eighteen years as a licensed counselor in the State of Texas that specializes in adolescents, and over fifteen years in various school administration positions, Riddick has touched the lives of numerous students, as well as implemented changes and initiatives to better the student body, which would then move on to better affect the greater community as these youth grow older and have more impact on their homes. Riddick’s love of aiding children and students in finding their way and becoming the best they can be even extends to his own personal life, through the three children of he and his and best friend of twenty years, Shundria – all three of whom are enrolled in this district.
Christopher Riddick is willing to help the district his own children are a part of – and isn’t that what you want most in an education environment? When your educators treat the children as well as they would treat their own, it becomes a second home for them, and one they trust and enjoy. Riddick’s own vision of that home would be one of advancement – a home full of equity, fairness, opportunities, and inclusion. A home in which any student could truly feel safe and happy pursuing a better future, and in turn, providing a better future for the community that raised them.
Riddick is not running unopposed, though his current qualifications do run in contrast to those of Gloria Carillo. Having run three times prior a school board position, Carillo is an admirable woman with a number of merits and accomplishments all her own. However, it is an up-hill battle for her – with three unsuccessful campaigns and an opponent as strong and appealing as Christopher Riddick, how could it not be?
No matter who you choose for your next School Board member of the GPISD, you’re making the choice you feel is best for your child. Christopher Riddick simply hopes to be the undisputed best for your child, and is willing to do what it takes to be the very best for all of Grand Prairie’s children.
